Private Pilot Licence
Obtaining a Private Pilot Licence will be an incredibly rewarding experience. As a private pilot,
you'll be free to set out on your own adventures and explore the sky with family and friends. However,
the whole process can seem complicated if not explained properly. It's a lot simpler than it can sound.
The choice of aircraft is yours. Either the two seat, high wing Cessna 152 or the 4 seat low wing
Piper Warrior are ideal for learning the initial skills involved. We're flexible when it comes to how
often you fly. Whether it's several times a week or once a month, it's totally up to you.
Enroute to your licence, fundamentals such as climbing, descending and turning will be taught first.
Right from flight number one, the controls will be in your hands as your instructor will guide you
patiently through the basics. These flights will be conducted in what we call Moorabbin's training area,
a large area of airspace to the south.
Once these initial concepts have been grasped, you'll embark upon the exciting process of learning
how to take-off and land safely. After some practice, you'll find yourself in the amazing position of
being capable of flying an aircraft without your instructor sitting beside you. Your first solo.
What a thrill ! Having met this challenge, you'll begin the process of preparing for a restricted licence.
This licence will entitle you to fly with passengers within the training area boundaries.
Learning to navigate will require a schedule of cross country navigation exercises, where you'll
learn how to successfully find your way around the Victorian countryside. Pack some sandwiches and a
cool drink and, together with your instructor, you'll travel to previously unknown townships as well
as see the familiar sights of St.Kilda, the MCG, Albert Park Lake, The Dandenongs and Port Phillip
Bay from a totally new perspective.
We understand that your choice of school and instructor is an important factor and will affect
your whole learning experience. We pride ourselves on our ability to treat our students as individuals.
We appreciate that learning to fly should be both professional and enjoyable. It's imperative to
develop a strong rapport with you, the student, so that you feel at home both on the ground and in
the air. Afterall, at the end of the day, it really is all about having fun !
