The learning experience need not end once you've obtained your PPL. Civil offers a wide
range of challenging yet enjoyable courses designed to improve your skills, build your
confidence and broaden your horizons. Here are some interesting ideas for the PPL holder
to consider.
Seat yourself in one of our Piper Arrows and experience the advantages of a variable pitch
propeller and retractable gear. Enjoy the increase in workload that accompanies the more
powerful engine and the faster cruising speed. An ideal stepping stone to flying a twin
engine aircraft and a necessity for the Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) course.
Flying a twin will be an awesome experience. The power and speed generated by two engines
will have you smiling from the moment you apply full power on the runway to the time you
attempt your first landing at twin engine approach speeds. We suggest your initial
endorsement be carried out in a 4 seater Piper Seminole. With a little experience and
practice, you'll soon find yourself upgrading to the 6 seater Seneca and the higher
performance 6 seater Beechcraft Baron for even greater flying thrills.
The ultimate challenge for the adrenalin junkie ! Imagine yourself inverted in one of our
aerobats high above the ground and having the capability to recover with ease. Undertake
one of our aerobatic ratings and you'll learn skills you never knew existed. From being
able to perform maneuvres like loops, barrell rolls and Cuban eights to being in total
control of an aircraft in a hammer head stall or a fully developed spin, you'll build a
sense of confidence and self belief which only you and other aerobatic pilots can enjoy.
Enhance your precision flying skills and develop a true sense of comraderie by flying
formation. Your initial endorsement will be conducted by teaching you the fundamentals
of basic pair formations. Soon you'll be feeling weclome as part of our Civil Formation
Team which practices together at least once a month. We've participated in various special
displays including weddings, Battle of Britain commemorative days and even the "Wings
Alive" Moorabbin 50th anniversary
airshow.
How about viewing the spectacular city lights of Melbourne at night ? A Night VFR rating
is ideal for scenic jaunts when the sun goes down. Apart from the obvious, a night VFR rating
will also add flexibility to your flight planning, allowing you to depart or arrive either in
daylight or darkness. The Piper Warrior is our recommendation as a training aircraft with
upgrades to any of our multi-engine aircraft as required.
No longer will you be restricted to the confines of visual navigation or feel daunted by the
uncertainty of poor weather ahead. Dial up those navigation aids in the cockpit and blast
through cloud. With an instrument rating, you'll find yourself in the enviable position of
being able to fly in virtually any weather, day or night in whatever aircraft you're endorsed to
fly. By far, the most challenging of our courses, the instrument rating will provide you with an
unparalleled sense of achievement and confidence in your own ability to handle whatever weather
conditions may come your way.
